Lesson Overview

3.11 – Cultural Differences in Nonverbal Communication: Gestures and expressions mean different things across cultures. A thumbs-up may be friendly in one place but rude in another. Eye contact may show respect or seem aggressive depending on background. Some people greet with hugs; others prefer distance. Silence might show politeness or discomfort. Learning these differences prevents awkward or hurt feelings. Ask questions kindly if you’re unsure about customs. Stay open and curious rather than judging. Respecting cultural signals builds bridges between worlds. Diversity in expression makes communication richer and wiser.
