4.7 – Avoiding Judgment While Someone Is Talking: Judgment closes doors, but curiosity opens them. Everyone deserves to be heard without being criticized. When someone talks, focus on their feelings before your opinions. Avoid labeling their choices or reactions. Replace judgment with understanding and patience. You can think “I want to learn what they mean” instead of “That’s wrong.” This mindset keeps your tone warm and neutral. When people feel safe, they share more truthfully. Over time, nonjudgmental listening strengthens trust deeply. Understanding begins where judgment ends.
