8.3 – Checking for Understanding Before Reacting: Jumping to conclusions can break healthy communication. Before reacting, make sure you understand the message fully. Repeat back what you think the person meant. Ask gentle questions like, “Do you mean that…” or “Can you explain that more?” This prevents arguments built on false assumptions. It also shows that you care about accuracy and respect. Slowing down gives both sides time to think clearly. Reacting calmly creates space for honesty and peace. Understanding first leads to better problem-solving later.
