3.13 – Identifying Mixed Signals or Confusing Cues: Sometimes words and actions don’t match, creating confusion. Someone might smile but use a sharp tone. They may agree out loud but roll their eyes silently. Mixed signals often mean hidden stress or discomfort. Instead of guessing, ask gently for clarity. Say something like, “I noticed you seem unsure—are you okay?” Staying curious prevents arguments or false assumptions. Check your own signals too for consistency. Learning to spot and clear mixed messages builds honesty. Over time, your communication becomes clearer and more dependable.
