Lesson Overview

3.4 – Practicing Assertive Communication: Assertiveness means expressing needs clearly while respecting others’ rights. Use calm, direct language without aggression or apology. Replace vague phrases with specific statements about what you need. Practice active listening so others feel understood. When emotions rise, slow your pace to stay grounded. Use “I” statements to take ownership of feelings and requests. Make eye contact to show sincerity and confidence. Rehearse conversations that usually cause anxiety. Recognize that disagreement is not disrespect. Over time, assertiveness earns both respect and cooperation.
