Lesson Overview

7.5 – Practicing Responses to Bias: Responding to bias requires courage balanced with wisdom. When you witness prejudice, name the behavior, not the person. Use calm language to explain why a statement or action is harmful. Ask questions that challenge assumptions without hostility. Model the respect you wish to see in others. Support those targeted instead of arguing for recognition. Sometimes silence for safety is valid—plan alternative ways to report or educate. Reflect afterward on what you learned from the exchange. Over time, practice builds confidence to intervene constructively. Addressing bias respectfully can change cultures one conversation at a time.
