Lesson Overview

7.2 – Understanding Types of Discrimination: Discrimination appears in many forms—racial, gender-based, age-related, and economic. It can also target religion, disability, or sexual orientation. Some discrimination is overt, like exclusion or harassment. Other forms are subtle, hidden in unequal pay, access, or representation. Study civil rights laws to understand what protections exist. Identify examples of systemic discrimination in workplaces or schools. Learn how implicit bias can cause unintentional harm. Respect stories from people who face discrimination even if they differ from yours. Understanding each form builds empathy and informed resistance. Education is the first step toward prevention and justice.
