Lesson Overview

3.5 – Understanding the Difference Between Aggression and Assertiveness: Assertiveness seeks respect for both parties; aggression seeks control. Aggressive communication often uses volume, threats, or manipulation. Assertive speech uses clarity, empathy, and firm boundaries. The goal of assertiveness is understanding, not dominance. When in doubt, check your tone and intentions before speaking. Aggression divides people, while assertiveness strengthens trust. Learn to express frustration without personal attacks. Watch for physical cues—relaxed shoulders show calm strength. A confident communicator invites dialogue, not fear. Practice assertive phrasing until it feels natural and balanced.
