Lesson Overview

7.3 – How Inequality Affects Communities: Inequality erodes trust, safety, and progress within neighborhoods. Communities divided by opportunity see higher crime and lower morale. Education gaps lead to generational cycles of poverty. Unequal access to healthcare widens both physical and mental suffering. Economic imbalance forces people to compete instead of cooperate. When certain voices are ignored, innovation and creativity decline. Inequality weakens democracy by silencing marginalized groups. Examine local data to understand where imbalance exists. Support policies and programs that close access gaps. A community’s health depends on fairness shared by all its members.
