Lesson Overview

3.3 – Can You Be Arrested at School? What Happens?: Yes, it can happen, but understanding the process helps you stay in control. Being arrested at school usually means an officer believes you committed a serious offense. You still have the right to stay silent and request a parent or attorney. Don’t argue, run, or try to explain everything on the spot. Stay calm, breathe slowly, and avoid panic. You can ask what you’re being arrested for and where you’re being taken. The school must usually notify your parents or guardians. You’ll be taken to a police station or juvenile facility, not an adult jail. Remember, you’re still protected by juvenile rights. Once home, talk to your family about next steps, including getting legal help.
