Lesson Overview

8.7 – Recognizing Manipulation or Guilt Trips: Manipulation often sounds like, “I thought you cared,” or “You’re selfish.” These phrases are meant to make you question your right to say no. Recognize guilt trips for what they are—emotional pressure, not truth. When you hear them, pause instead of defending yourself. Respond with calm phrases like, “I care, and my answer is still no.” Don’t explain or argue—repeat and stay polite. Boundaries lose power when guilt takes over. Recognizing tactics keeps you strong and unshaken.
