9.2 – Active Listening While Holding Boundaries: Listening deeply shows respect, but it doesn’t mean surrendering your needs. Active listening means focusing on the speaker, not your next response. Use eye contact and simple nods to show you care. Reflect back what you hear—“So you felt frustrated when…”—to clarify understanding. Then calmly share your view without apology. You can validate feelings and still say no. True listening helps people feel seen while keeping your boundaries safe. Balance begins with presence and honesty.
