Lesson Overview

3.5 – Following Courtroom Etiquette and Respect: Courtroom etiquette is about showing respect for the law and everyone involved. Dress neatly, arrive early, and turn off your phone before entering. Stand when the judge enters or leaves the room, and never interrupt while someone is speaking. Speak only when asked, and always address the judge as “Your Honor.” Keep your facial expressions neutral and avoid reacting emotionally during testimony or rulings. Listen carefully to instructions and follow them precisely. These small acts of respect reflect maturity and discipline. Courtrooms are structured environments where behavior communicates as much as words. When you act with decorum and patience, it helps your case and shows you understand the seriousness of the situation. Professionalism is your silent advocate—it speaks volumes without saying a word.
