Lesson Overview

2.14 – Reducing Fear of Labels: Labels can feel scary, but they’re meant to help, not hurt. They organize care and guide treatment, just like naming an infection helps doctors know what to do. Fear often comes from misunderstanding or stigma. Remember, a label is not your whole identity—it’s just one detail about your health. You can still dream, work, and love freely. Talking about what a diagnosis really means replaces fear with knowledge. You have the right to ask for explanations in plain words. When you face labels with curiosity instead of shame, they lose power. The more people learn, the less fear controls them.
