Lesson Overview

2.2 – Anxiety Disorders: Basic Understanding: Anxiety disorders happen when worry and fear become stronger than the situation calls for. Everyone feels nervous sometimes, but anxiety can make your body and mind stay on alert too long. You may feel your heart race, your muscles tense, or your stomach ache. Your thoughts might jump to “what ifs” that never end. These feelings can make sleeping, focusing, or relaxing hard. There are many kinds—like generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and panic disorder—but all can improve with support. Learning breathing skills, facing fears slowly, and talking to a therapist can help. Medication can also balance brain chemistry when needed. Anxiety doesn’t mean weakness—it means your body’s alarm is too sensitive. With practice, you can reset it and feel safe again.
