Lesson Overview

8.13 – Communicating During Crisis: When emotions run high, communication can feel impossible. If you’re in crisis, focus on safety first—call 988 or a trusted person. Once safe, tell your care team what happened honestly. Providers need to know details to adjust your plan. It’s okay to cry, pause, or write your thoughts instead of speaking. Crisis moments are not failures—they’re signals to reach for support. With open talk, care becomes stronger, not weaker. Crisis communication is about honesty, safety, and hope for the next step forward.
