Lesson Overview

9.1 – Understanding What Stigma Means: Stigma happens when people judge or fear others because of mental health conditions. It can make people feel ashamed or hide what they’re going through. Stigma spreads through myths, jokes, or silence. Understanding it helps us stop it. Everyone has mental health, just like physical health, and no one should be blamed for needing care. Learning the truth about mental illness breaks old ideas that cause harm. Talking openly about mental health makes courage normal, not rare. When we replace judgment with empathy, healing becomes easier for all. The first step to ending stigma is understanding how it works.
