Lesson Overview

2.8 – Personality Disorders Clarified: Personality disorders describe patterns of thinking and behaving that make relationships or emotions harder to manage. These patterns often start early and feel automatic. They are not a person’s fault—they are ways the mind learned to protect itself. Examples include borderline, narcissistic, or avoidant personality disorders. With therapy and support, people can learn new ways to respond instead of react. Understanding emotions, boundaries, and self-worth brings stability. Recovery is about awareness and growth, not perfection. Labeling someone isn’t helpful—listening is. People with these diagnoses can and do lead full, connected lives. Compassion and education are the best tools for change.
