Lesson Overview

8.8 – Communicating When You Disagree: It’s okay to disagree respectfully with your provider. If something doesn’t feel right, say why. Use “I” statements, like “I’m uncomfortable with that medication,” or “I’d like to try therapy first.” Good providers welcome honest feedback. Staying calm keeps the focus on solutions, not conflict. Ask for clarification instead of assuming you’re misunderstood. Disagreement doesn’t mean disrespect—it means you’re engaged in your care. Talking openly builds mutual trust and better outcomes.
