Lesson Overview

8.4 – Telling Your Story Without Overwhelm: It’s easy to feel nervous or emotional when talking about your life and health history. Focus on key moments that shaped how you feel now. You don’t need to share every detail—just enough to help your provider understand. If the story feels heavy, take breaks or write it out first. Therapists and doctors are trained to listen without judgment. You can even say, “This is hard to talk about,” to slow the pace. Sharing clearly helps professionals connect dots faster. Your story matters, but you control how it’s told. Healing starts when you’re heard safely and calmly.
