Lesson Overview

6.6 – Rights for Minors and Guardianship: Minors have rights to care and privacy, though parents or guardians often help make decisions. In most cases, teens can speak with a provider alone, and what they say stays private unless there’s risk of harm. Guardianship comes into play for adults unable to make safe choices for themselves. Guardians must act in the person’s best interest and can’t abuse that power. Providers must include the person in decisions whenever possible. Understanding how these systems work helps families balance protection and independence. Everyone deserves respect, no matter their age or situation.
