Lesson Overview

9.3 – Cultural Perspectives on Mental Health: Every culture sees mental health differently. Some view it as a private matter, while others see it as spiritual or physical. Understanding your culture’s beliefs helps you find care that fits your values. Sometimes traditions and modern medicine can work together. It’s okay to hold both your culture and your healing. Sharing your background with your provider builds respect and better care. No one’s culture is “wrong”—it’s part of their identity. Learning different cultural views creates empathy, not division. Healing honors where you come from and where you’re going.
