Lesson Overview

6.12 – Filing Complaints and Grievances: If you ever feel mistreated or ignored in care, you have the right to file a complaint. Every clinic, hospital, and insurance company has a process for grievances. You can write a letter, fill out a form, or ask an advocate for help. Complaints are not attacks—they’re feedback to improve safety and fairness. Staff must respond and explain what actions will be taken. You can also contact state health boards if local complaints aren’t resolved. Standing up for your rights helps others too. Your voice can create positive change in the system.
