Lesson Overview

6.4 – Rights in Inpatient Settings: Being in a hospital or mental health facility doesn’t mean losing your rights. You still have the right to respect, privacy, and clear explanations about your care. You can ask who your providers are and what your treatment plan includes. Facilities must keep you safe and allow contact with family or advocates when possible. You also have the right to file complaints if you feel mistreated. Even during crisis care, your voice matters. Staff must listen, explain, and treat you with dignity. Hospitals are meant to protect your safety, not take your power away.
