12.19 – Making a Career Pivot – When and How: A career pivot means changing direction to a new field or role. It usually happens when you realize your interests or goals have shifted. Start by identifying what excites you most about work. Research industries where your existing skills can fit in new ways. Take small steps by taking a course, volunteering, or freelancing in that area. Update your resume to highlight the connections between your old and new skills. Be honest in interviews about why you’re changing paths and what you’ve learned from past roles. Surround yourself with mentors who have made similar moves. Expect a learning curve and stay patient as you build new experience. Each pivot is a chance to realign with your values and goals. Sometimes a new direction is exactly what helps you grow faster and feel fulfilled.
