Lesson Overview

5.12 – Understanding Taxes and Deductions: Taxes are what you pay to help fund public services like schools and roads. Deductions are amounts taken out of your paycheck for things like federal taxes, Social Security, or insurance. The amount depends on how much you earn and where you live. Check your pay stub to see exactly what’s withheld. Filing taxes each year helps you stay legal and might even get you a refund. Keep track of income forms like W-2s or 1099s for tax season. Ask for help if the forms feel confusing. Understanding taxes makes adult life less stressful and more secure.
