Lesson Overview

1.102 – How We Learn to Hate Ourselves: Self-hate often begins quietly, through small comments, criticism, or rejection that build up over time. When someone we care about says we’re not good enough, it can echo in our minds for years. Many kids learn to doubt themselves before they ever learn how to love who they are. Sometimes, it’s not even words but looks, silence, or being ignored that plant the seed. Society teaches us to compare, compete, and always find flaws. Over time, those outside messages become our inner voice, repeating lies about our worth. Healing starts when we notice that voice and realize it’s not ours to keep. Replacing cruel self-talk with truth takes patience but changes everything. When you see where the hate came from, you stop letting it run your life. Learning to unlearn those messages is how self-love begins again.
