🛡️ Teen Suicide Series
Course overview
Lesson Overview

1.77 – The Shock, Denial, and Guilt: When someone dies by suicide, your mind might try to protect you by refusing to believe it happened. That shock can feel like you’re trapped in a fog or watching a movie that doesn’t seem real. Denial is a natural first reaction because your heart isn’t ready to accept the truth. Then guilt can start creeping in, making you ask “what if” questions that don’t have answers. You may wonder if you missed warning signs or could have stopped it. These thoughts can be heavy, but they don’t mean you are to blame. People who take their own lives are usually in deep pain that no one could easily fix. Healing starts when you allow yourself to feel the shock without judgment. Sharing your emotions with someone safe helps release guilt’s grip. Over time, your mind and heart learn to accept what happened while holding space for love, not blame.
