Lesson Overview

1.56 – If You Don’t Feel Safe at Home: Feeling unsafe at home can make every day feel tense and unpredictable, but your safety always comes first no matter who is involved. It’s okay to trust that uneasy feeling that tells you something isn’t right. You might notice yelling, threats, neglect, or physical harm that makes your body stay on edge. Even if people say it’s your fault, remember —it isn’t. You deserve protection and peace, not fear. Try to identify safe spots in your home or neighbors who can help if things get bad. Keep a list of emergency numbers like 911 or a crisis line where you can call quickly. Teachers, school counselors, or coaches can connect you with shelters or safe adults if you explain what’s happening. Planning small steps to stay safe doesn’t mean you’re betraying anyone; it means you’re protecting your life. You have the right to a home that feels safe, calm, and free from harm, and help exists to make that possible.
