1.51 – Talking to a Therapist About Dark Thoughts: Sharing your darkest thoughts with a therapist can feel scary, but their job is to help you feel safe and understood. They’ve heard all kinds of pain before and won’t be shocked or disgusted by yours. Therapists listen to help you explore what’s underneath those feelings — not to judge or label you. You can tell them as much or as little as you feel ready to share. They may ask about what triggers your thoughts or what helps calm them. Sometimes they’ll teach you ways to replace harmful thoughts with safer ones. The more honest you are, the more they can help you find relief. Therapy is a place where your pain is taken seriously, and your life is valued. Opening up takes courage, but it’s one of the safest steps toward real healing. Over time, those dark thoughts begin to lose their control over you.
