🛡️ Teen Suicide Series
Course overview
Lesson Overview

1.71 – If a Friend Posts About Suicide Online: Seeing a suicidal post or message online is serious and never something to ignore. Even if it seems like a cry for attention, it could still be a cry for help. Reach out privately to the person and express your concern. Don’t argue or shame them for posting—listen and encourage them to get help. You can report the post to the platform if it seems urgent, as most sites have safety tools for these situations. Let a trusted adult or counselor know right away. If you believe your friend is in immediate danger, call emergency services or the 988 Lifeline. Online actions can feel distant, but your response can bring real-world help. Taking those posts seriously might be what prevents a tragedy. One caring message or report can save a life.
