Lesson Overview

1.3 – Most Suicidal People Don’t Want to Die: Many people who are suicidal feel trapped between wanting to live and wanting the pain to stop. They may imagine death as a relief, not because they hate life, but because they can’t see another way to escape their suffering. Inside, there’s still a small part that wishes someone would notice and help. This inner conflict can be exhausting and confusing, leading them to hide what’s really going on. When others take time to listen without judgment, that tiny spark of hope can grow. Most people who survive a suicide attempt later feel grateful they’re alive—it shows how strong the will to live truly is. Understanding this truth helps us focus on reducing pain, not blaming the person for feeling lost. Everyone deserves to know that help exists, healing is possible, and pain can change over time.
