Lesson Overview

1.68 – Staying With a Friend in Crisis: When a friend is in immediate danger or talking about suicide, staying with them is one of the most powerful things you can do. Your presence helps calm their racing thoughts and shows they aren’t alone. Sit somewhere quiet and safe where they feel comfortable. Avoid leaving them by themselves, especially if they have a plan or means to hurt themselves. You can encourage them to breathe, talk, or call for help together. Keep your voice calm and reassuring. Don’t argue or panic; your steady energy helps more than you know. Sometimes silence speaks louder than words—just sitting beside them can make a huge difference. Stay until help arrives or until another trusted adult takes over. That simple act of staying could be what saves their life.
