Lesson Overview

2.3 – Using Bedtime Routines to Feel Secure: A bedtime routine is more than habit—it signals to the body that rest is safe. For many who’ve faced trauma, nighttime can bring worry or alertness. Creating a soft, repetitive pattern before sleep builds comfort. Turning off screens, dimming lights, and listening to calm sounds helps prepare for rest. Predictable rituals such as brushing teeth or writing reflections teach the brain to slow down. Repeating these steps nightly builds security through familiarity. Consistency reduces racing thoughts and improves sleep quality. A safe bedtime pattern reminds the body that it’s okay to let go. Over time, it creates emotional rest as well as physical relaxation.
