Lesson Overview

7.7 – Recognizing When to Pause a Talk: Pausing during tension is a sign of control, not defeat. It prevents emotional flooding and regretful words. Recognizing when your heart races or your thoughts blur signals a good time to stop. Saying, “I need a moment to think” gives space to calm down. Pauses allow both people to reset and regain focus. They prevent escalation and restore safety in communication. Stepping away briefly doesn’t end the conversation—it protects it. Returning later with clarity makes outcomes more positive. Pausing turns emotional breaks into moments of maturity and respect.
