Lesson Overview

5.4 – Expanding Your Emotional Vocabulary: Expanding emotional vocabulary means learning more precise words to describe how you feel. Instead of just “mad” or “sad,” you can name emotions like “frustrated,” “disappointed,” or “lonely.” This accuracy improves both self-understanding and communication. The more specific the word, the clearer the path to calming or problem-solving. Using detailed emotional language also validates your experience. It teaches the brain to recognize feelings as normal, not wrong. Emotional vocabulary grows through reading, journaling, or guided lists. Over time, it becomes easier to express complex emotions with confidence. Naming deeply helps healing happen honestly.
