Lesson Overview

4.14 – Separating Past From Present Experiences: Trauma can blur the line between what was and what is. Separating past from present means reminding yourself that the danger has ended. Using sensory grounding helps focus on what’s real now. This separation re-trains the brain to trust the current environment. It helps stop emotional flashbacks from taking control. Saying aloud, “I am safe right now,” creates a clear boundary between times. Each reminder strengthens awareness of the present. Over time, this skill rebuilds emotional independence. The more often you practice, the faster clarity returns. Separation brings power back to your current reality.
