Lesson Overview

14.11 Shifting Focus From Self to Connection: Social anxiety makes your attention turn inward, constantly monitoring how you appear, but shifting focus toward genuine curiosity about others helps relieve that pressure. You practice listening with interest, noticing the other person’s tone and expression rather than overanalyzing your own behavior. You remind yourself that conversations are shared experiences, not personal evaluations. As you engage with the goal of connecting, not performing, you discover you are less focused on self-criticism and more aware of the opportunity in front of you. Connection becomes easier and more enjoyable because you are present, open, and supportive instead of guarded and tense.
