Lesson Overview

6.12 Replacing Compulsion With Confidence: Compulsions create a false promise that anxiety will disappear if you perform certain actions, but confidence becomes stronger when you choose not to obey fear’s demands. You begin practicing delayed responses—waiting longer before following the urge or reducing the intensity of the compulsive behavior. This teaches your brain that the fear moment will pass even without the behavior. Each success builds real confidence, proving that you can feel discomfort without needing a ritual to escape it. Over time, confidence replaces compulsion as your default response to uncertainty, allowing you to reclaim control of your time, energy, and life.
