6.5 Managing Panic Through Preparation: Panic feels sudden and overwhelming, but preparation gives you tools to stay grounded and safe during intense moments. You learn breathing techniques, physical grounding, and calming statements that you can use as soon as panic symptoms begin. You practice these skills when you’re calm so your brain remembers them easily when you’re not. You also create a plan for where to focus your attention during panic—on your breath, the room around you, or someone supportive instead of the fear inside. Each time you successfully manage a panic wave, you build confidence that panic does not control you. Preparation becomes your proof that panic can be handled, survived, and overcome.
