Lesson Overview

15.4 Grounding During a Panic Episode: Grounding during panic means anchoring yourself to the present moment so fear cannot carry you into imagined disaster. You focus on your surroundings — textures under your hands, sounds you hear, items you can name — anything that reminds your brain that your body is safe and the moment is real. You breathe slowly to tell your nervous system there is no emergency, even if your brain insists otherwise. You allow sensations to move through you rather than fighting them. By staying connected to reality instead of fear’s predictions, you lower the intensity and shorten the duration of panic. Each grounded moment proves panic does not control you.
