12.16 – How to Sleep When You Don’t Have a Bed: Rest can still be restorative even without a bed when you focus on stability, warmth, and alignment. Begin by finding a flat surface away from drafts or direct light, then create padding from clothing, blankets, or folded towels to cushion pressure points. Elevating your head slightly prevents congestion and supports breathing. If possible, layer soft materials beneath you and a jacket or blanket on top to trap warmth. Keep valuables nearby so your body feels secure enough to relax. Limit caffeine late in the day and slow your breathing before lying down. Your brain needs signals of safety, not luxury, to enter deep rest. Focus on comfort through small adjustments rather than frustration about circumstance. Whether on a couch, floor, or seat, structure and calm breathing prepare your body for recovery. Prioritizing warmth, safety, and stillness lets your body restore energy even in temporary or imperfect spaces.
