Lesson Overview

10.25 – Safety Planning for Domestic Violence or Past Trauma: Rebuilding security after violence takes patience and structure. Create a private plan that includes safe words, escape routes, and emergency contacts you trust. Keep duplicates of keys and documents in a hidden place or with someone safe. Memorize critical numbers in case your phone isn’t accessible. Therapy, advocacy centers, and shelters offer confidential guidance without judgment. Emotional healing and physical protection must work together; both matter equally. Setting boundaries with past abusers—through restraining orders or blocked communication—defends progress. Relearning to trust yourself takes practice, not pressure. Each protective step proves that survival is strength, not shame. A solid plan transforms fear into focus. Safety after trauma means choosing freedom daily and surrounding yourself with systems that honor your right to peace, stability, and renewal.
