Lesson Overview

32.8 – Avoiding Heavy Meals or Caffeine at Night: Avoiding heavy meals or caffeine at night prevents restlessness and discomfort during sleep. Eating large portions close to bedtime forces your body to digest instead of relax, leading to bloating or indigestion. Likewise, caffeine from coffee, tea, or soda can linger in your system for hours, disrupting your ability to fall asleep. Choose light snacks like fruit, yogurt, or herbal tea if you’re hungry late. Planning your last meal at least two to three hours before bed supports digestion and deeper rest. Making these small dietary adjustments strengthens awareness of how habits affect your body. By treating nighttime nourishment as preparation for rest, you protect both comfort and sleep quality.
