Lesson Overview

10.4 – Basic Fire Safety and Emergency Procedures: Fire safety begins long before smoke appears—it lives in habits you repeat daily without panic. Checking smoke detectors monthly, keeping exits clear, and knowing two ways out of every room turn fear into readiness. Cooking safely means staying nearby, using timers, and keeping fabrics away from heat. Learning stop-drop-and-roll and practicing quick exits teach your body to respond faster than fear. Posting emergency numbers and escape plans where everyone can see them adds shared responsibility. When drills become familiar, your reactions feel steady instead of frantic. Fire safety also includes prevention through organization—limiting clutter, checking cords, and storing chemicals responsibly. Thinking ahead doesn’t make you anxious; it makes you capable. Fires rarely give warnings, but preparation builds protection that saves lives. By turning safety steps into everyday behavior, you make your independence fire-smart, confident, and secure under pressure.
