3.3 – Reading Clothing Labels for Washing Instructions: Clothing labels are like the instruction manuals for your wardrobe, guiding you to care for each item correctly. Those tiny tags tell you how much heat your fabric can handle, whether it needs gentle cycles, or if it should stay out of the dryer. Learning to read them prevents accidental damage and wasted money on ruined clothes. The symbols may look confusing, but once you know them, they become easy to recognize. A triangle might mean bleach is okay, while a hand icon means hand wash only. Ignoring these details often leads to shrinkage, color fading, or stretching that can make your favorite outfit unwearable. Reading labels also builds self-reliance—no one needs to remind you how to care for your things. It’s a simple but professional skill that carries into adult life. When you follow the label’s directions, your clothes maintain their fit, color, and comfort much longer, saving time, money, and frustration.
