12.34 – Setting Boundaries With Technology Before Bedtime: Technology overstimulates the brain with blue light and endless notifications that hijack sleep signals. Creating digital boundaries restores peace. Set a screen-off time at least 30–60 minutes before bed. Replace scrolling with reading, journaling, or stretching. Use “do not disturb” modes to silence alerts overnight. If you rely on your phone for alarms, place it across the room to reduce temptation. Social media’s emotional triggers keep your brain reactive even when physically tired. Protect your evening as mental recovery time—no debates, no comparison loops. Gradually your brain relearns that night means calm, not stimulation. When you reduce tech exposure, melatonin flows naturally, eyes rest, and thought patterns soften. Consistency transforms habits into freedom; sleep becomes a smooth transition rather than a struggle. Boundaries aren’t punishment—they’re protection for focus, creativity, and emotional balance the following day.
