10.2 – Setting Personal Safety Rules at Home: Personal safety rules act as your private code of conduct that keeps your space secure and your mind at peace. Creating them means deciding how you’ll handle doors, guests, appliances, and noise without waiting for something bad to happen first. Clear rules—like locking up before bed, never leaving candles unattended, or setting phone boundaries—teach your brain consistency that reduces anxiety. When rules are written and repeated, they become instincts that protect you even on stressful days. Good safety rules are realistic, not rigid; they flex with your needs but always keep protection first. These boundaries also show respect for roommates, family, or helpers who share your space. Knowing exactly what’s expected avoids conflict and builds trust. A safe home runs smoothly because its rules are practiced daily, not only after an incident. The goal is to create a structure where safety feels natural, calm, and completely within your control.
