Lesson Overview

34.7 – Basic CPR Awareness and Training: Basic CPR awareness and training empower you to take life-saving action during emergencies. CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) keeps oxygen flowing when a person’s breathing or heartbeat stops. Learn the steps—check responsiveness, call 911, and begin chest compressions at a steady rhythm. Push hard and fast in the center of the chest, about two inches deep, at roughly 100–120 compressions per minute. If trained, alternate compressions with rescue breaths. Knowing CPR gives you confidence to help until professionals arrive. Practice through certified classes offered by organizations like the Red Cross. This skill turns fear into courage and hesitation into help. Being prepared makes you an active protector in critical, life-threatening moments.
