43.3 – Using Public Transportation Safely: Using public transportation safely requires planning, attention, and confidence. Always know your route before leaving to avoid confusion in unfamiliar areas. Keep your personal belongings secure and close to your body where they can’t be easily grabbed. Stay in well-lit areas and near other passengers when waiting for buses or trains. Avoid displaying valuable items such as jewelry, phones, or cash openly. Being aware of your surroundings helps you identify exits and recognize unusual behavior early. If you feel unsafe, move closer to the driver or alert authorities immediately. Trust your instincts and never hesitate to switch seats or cars if something feels wrong. Knowing schedules and backup routes adds flexibility and reduces stress. Safe transportation habits make every journey more predictable, comfortable, and secure.
